Dyslexia is characterized by challenges in learning to read. Problems may include difficulties in spelling words, reading quickly, "sounding out" words in the head, pronouncing words when reading aloud and understanding what one reads. Square Panda fits the needs of dyslexic children in many ways!
Our playset fuses tactile smart letters with multisensory learning games that use different senses: visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic modalities to differentiate the play and learning experience. Multisensory learning activates deeper cognition and strengthens your child's engagement. Connecting new and existing skills with active play and learning can be more effective than rote learning or memorization alone.
Square Panda uses a research based approach to teach key reading readiness skills to dyslexic children:
Using physical and tactile movements to re-connect the brain hemispheres
Use a right brained reading approach. Teach phonetics rather than sight words as these require so much memorization.
Teach decoding to build reading independence and confidence
Use systematic color and picture enhanced phonics games and activities
Teach individual phonemic sounds, consonants, vowels and letter combinations
Use vowel and letter combinations to show them how to create sounds.
